I believe that parents should have a voice and choice in the education their children receive. Students, parents, and educators must work together to prepare our children for a successful future. I believe there is no place in education for shutting parents out of the decisions for their children’s future.
Hampton depends on local law enforcement, EMS, and firefighters in building a safe community. I support stiff penalties to remove violent offenders from our streets. We must reject efforts to remove the 2nd Amendment rights from law-abiding citizens and focus on the cause of gun violence.
Cost of living across the state is out of control and families are struggling to survive. I will work to get rising costs under control and support measures to attract well-paying jobs to Hampton.
Every life is precious, and parents should have access to the resources needed to create a nurturing environment for their children. Local mentor programs such as R.I.S.E. can strengthen families. As a prior therapeutic foster parent, I have seen the impact on children suffering from trauma. I will work to strengthen screening and training for foster families so when the need arises, foster families can support the parents and the child.
